Modernizing Renovation Wellesley, MA · Kitchen Renovation & Addition · Master Suite
A generous colonial in a close-knit Wellesley neighborhood — the kind of house that had been well loved for decades, with one exception. A kitchen addition from the 1980s had been tacked onto the back of the house: inefficient, out of character, and an addition that had never quite resolved itself against the rear elevation.
The sleeping porch came off. The laundry relocated. The back of the house was cleaned up and given back its composure. The kitchen was opened to the adjacent room through a cased opening — generous enough to connect the spaces, considered enough to preserve the scale and character of both. The beam it introduced is housed within the opening itself.
A master suite was designed upstairs in the same spirit — quiet, proportional, belonging to the house.
