Services

SBW Design Studio offers a structured approach to residential projects, from initial evaluation through full architectural design with three distinct entry points:

Architectural Insight

A property-specific evaluation of your home's existing conditions and renovation potential. Following a site visit, you receive a written report covering what the house has, what it needs, and what it could become — organized around three levels of intervention with corresponding investment ranges. The report also includes a maintenance forecast, scope drivers, and renovation value considerations to help you make informed decisions before committing to any work.

The Architectural Insight report is a standalone service and a natural starting point for any homeowner considering renovation.

Design Discovery

The first design conversation with your house. Following the Architectural Insight report — or for homeowners who already have a clear direction — Design Discovery translates thinking into form. You receive two to three hand-drawn schematic options presented in a beautiful, accessible format: watercolor plans and sketches, material direction, concept highlights, and a preliminary budget range tied to the level of intervention.

This is a directional package, not a construction document. Pricing at this stage is a framework for decision-making, not a contractor bid. An accompanying Level of Finish Guide helps clarify how material choices move the budget up or down.

Full Project Design

Complete design services from first sketch through construction. This includes schematic design, design development, construction documentation, permitting support, contractor selection, and construction administration. Interior design coordination — material selections, fixtures, millwork detailing — is incorporated as the scope requires.

Every project follows a similar structure, but is shaped entirely by the specific conditions of the house and the goals of the owner.

SBWDS provides residential design services in collaboration with licensed professionals where required.
